YD Academic Carnival

YD Academic Carnival

To promote cross-grade interactive learning and showcase the diverse aspects of academic knowledge, our school organized the "YD Academic Carnival." Co-planned by Primary 5 students and the teaching team, the event featured a series of subject-themed game booths designed for Primary 1 to 4 students. By integrating learning with play, the carnival was both lively and highly educational.

Event Philosophy and Design

The core objective of this carnival was to "bring academic subjects to life," stimulating students' thirst for knowledge through Game-based Learning. Under the guidance of their teachers, Primary 5 students worked in groups to design interactive booths covering various subjects, including Languages, Mathematics, General Studies, Arts, and Life Education. Each game incorporated key learning concepts from its respective subject, with difficulty levels tailored to the cognitive abilities of lower primary students, ensuring a perfect balance of fun and educational value.

Student Performance and Feedback

Throughout the event, Primary 5 students demonstrated outstanding leadership and creativity. From setting up the booths and explaining the rules to guiding their younger peers, their efforts truly reflected the fruits of self-directed learning. Meanwhile, the Primary 1 to 4 students participated enthusiastically and actively engaged in the games.

Educational Significance and Outlook

The event successfully achieved the following educational goals:

  1. Cross-grade Co-learning: Promoted interaction between upper and lower primary students, establishing a campus learning community.
  2. Knowledge Application: Guided students to transform what they learned in the classroom into actionable activity designs.
  3. Whole-person Development: Cultivated a sense of responsibility among the student organizers while inspiring a spirit of exploration among the participants.
  4. Learning Gratitude: Primary 1 to 4 students wrote thank-you cards in Chinese or English to express their gratitude for the hard work of their senior peers.

Our school will continue to promote such diversified learning activities, allowing students to experience the infinite possibilities of knowledge beyond textbooks.
