As the new school year begins, on behalf of all the teachers, I would like to extend my most sincere greetings and gratitude to you. Through this letter, I would like to share some important updates and information about our school.
Yao Dao Primary School has always been blessed with your support and trust. Your cooperation and collaboration are the crucial driving forces behind the school's continuous development. Thank you for partnering with us in nurturing our children, enabling their holistic development in academic pursuits, moral character, spiritual growth, and interpersonal relationships.
Although the education sector in Hong Kong is undergoing structural changes, with a decline in the school-age population leading to widespread class reductions across the city, we are deeply grateful that our Primary 1 classes have increased from three to four this year. We are incredibly thankful for this. Besides thanking our Heavenly Father for His protection and care, I must also thank you, the parents, for your recognition and affirmation of our school. As the Principal, I promise that we will uphold our consistent school mission, building upon the cornerstone of the Christian faith. We will focus on cultivating students' character and spirituality, cater to their diverse needs, and firmly reject the spoon-feeding educational approach.
This academic year, we will continue to implement reforms and dedicate ourselves to providing high-quality education for our students. First, we will replace the original four examination assessments by dividing the school year into three terms, with only one examination per term. This will further reduce students' exam pressure and increase their learning time. At the same time, we will introduce Physical Education and Music classes taught by Native English Teachers. This will provide children with more opportunities to be exposed to and learn English in a joyful and engaging atmosphere, thereby broadening their horizons and enhancing their language proficiency.
Furthermore, we will transform the original homework tutorial classes into "Guided Study" sessions, extending them by 10 minutes. In addition to answering questions regarding homework, teachers will also teach various revision and self-management techniques to enhance students' self-directed learning abilities. Consequently, the school dismissal time will be adjusted to 3:20 PM.
In the new school year, we will resume Cub Scouts and the Boys' Brigade, and sports team training will be increased to twice a week. Activities such as the Gospel Camp, Christmas Drama, English Drama, Talent Shows, and study tours outside Hong Kong will continue to be organized. These activities will provide our children with colorful learning opportunities and teamwork experiences, creating wonderful and memorable moments in their lives.
